Growing up watching anime, this series solidified the genre with its classic motifs, plot lines, art style, and animation. The music is memorable, the characters are quirky and funny. The premise is solid, however the creators didn't stick to a tight regiment with regards to the overall point. After seeing this series again, I've come to feel that the series is less about the overall point, and more about the development of the characters and their interaction. Like other anime within the 'harem' genre (Love Hina comes to mind), this original Tenchi Muyo OVA is one of those series that defined a genre which has evolved into many other facets of the harem series genre. If you like classic anime and would like to see a series that basically began it all (for the American audience), Tenchi Muyo - Ryo-Ohki OVA is what you're looking for. When the series was finished, it left me wanting SO much more. Perhaps it will leave you feeling the same!Vollständige Rezension lesen

When this debuted on Cartoon Network, I instantly felt immersed into the series, eagerly watching each episode, trying hard to figure out what they meant in certain cases. Here's my rundown: Among the list of favorite seasons in the Tenchi series, this ranks my second most watched. The animation, at the time, was really interesting despite its theme and plot. It felt like it was meant to be a '90s TV show, and that is a good thing. The voice acting was, at the time okay, but I still prefer to watch it in japanese. Though I do complain that it was only 13 episodes long, it was indeed one of the best short seasons I've watched. It is also intriguing that most episodes were standalone, meaning individually storied. Of course it did follow a well set timeline. Overall, it is a must have for fans and a must see for first timers. Though the animation won't appeal until later, it is a great story to follow.Vollständige Rezension lesen
