Samsung SGH T479 Gravity 3
Over all this is a great phone. I only have one issue with it, weak signal! Compared to any Motorolla phone. I can have my Gravity 3 next to my Motorolla Razor and my Razor will be at 5 bars, while my Gravity is only at one bar. If you are in a strong signal area then it really doesn't matter. The phone takes some getting used to. But it can do a lot of fun things. Like take a voice recording and turn it into your ring tone. The texting font size is wonderful. The screen is bright and easy to see. Speaker is clear. Ring volume is loud. All in all this is a great phone. The texting keyboad is smooth and makes sliding to the next key very easy and comfortable. It takes nice pictures and allows to upload to your pc by usb or bluetooth.Over all this is a great phone. great phone but not full internet

Satisfied with Samsung Gravity 3
Overall, I really like the phone. I've been using the phone for two months. I love the keyboard for texting, but like one previous reviewer, the beep for every button I pushed was annoying and it was difficult to find the instructions for turning off that sound. I think the manual could have included more detailed information. Battery life is very good- recharging it about every 3 days. The provided ringtones are quite limited and very basic. There are lots of features I still haven't used. I'm trying to figure out if I can record a voice memo on it. Does anyone know?Overall, I really like the phone. Capable But Zero Frills In Box Gravity 3 - Did Not Go The Distance
The SGH-t479 (Gravity 3) for T-Mobile is a textbook case of cutting corners. 1- Almost empty box upon delivery. Phone, battery and charger - that is it. No wired handsfree, no USB-PC connectivity cable. 2- Navigation is a paid service. Long after Nokia has made free turn by turn navigation a fact of life in the mobile world T-Mobile and Samsung have teamed up to charge you $10.00 a month for it. 3- No separate headphone jack; no separate charger port; no separate microUSB port. This is the -multifunction port- which means no listening to your purchased separately headphones while charging or using your purchased separately USB cable. 4- Not even a 64 mb microSD card is included. You are on your own for populating that slot. 5- The SIM card has a use by date on it. What is up with ... How many battery changes/SIM card changes will it survive before it no longer fits right or outright breaks? It is tempting to ask why they included the battery, back and charger in this very stripped down retail package. This cost cutting was not just retail packaging and the multi-function port. 7- The slider feels cheap. I have used Samsung sliders in the past and some have been wonderful (SGH-G600), some have been awful (SGH-U600). This falls in between. 8- The display is the industry standard small screen 320 x 240 resolution with the Samsung standard ~260K color depth. About the same display used on the SGH-D900 of 2006. No progress in four years is not a good sign. The camera is a 2 megapixel sensor. The D900 had a 3.15 four years ago. Here there is regression, not progress. There are some good aspects to this phone. The QWERTY keyboard is easy to use. The display is bright enough for inside use with no difficulties Ringtones are loud The microSD card is not mounted under the battery The camera takes good pictures for a 2 megapixel sensor The funky outline icons are actually a bit cute and change to full color when selected. 3G for T-Mobile The screen is inset protecting it from a lot of the inadvertant damage that can happen in a purse or pocket. The port has a cover The side buttons are easy to find and to use with decent feedback. I do not believe that this phone will go the two years to my next upgrade. I hope it does but I have my doubts. UPDATE: It is now 13 months since getting this phone. It did not make it to my next upgrade. Electrical Issues - The display is starting to act weird and the wallpaper is showing up in 256 colors sometimes and 260k colors other times. - I have had to remove and reinsert the battery several times while hooked up to the charger to get the phone to boot up. Physical issues - The finish on the edge of the phone flakes off. This purely cosmetic but looks like crap. It is on the way out and I am replacing it with the same device from here on eBay because of battery/charger/no learning curve issues. If the replacement lasts the ten months to my next upgrade then I will move on to something else. (replacement also bit the dust, now using HTC Touch Pro 2. No more Samsung!) The keypad/keyboard has held up well. The battery cover is no trouble and I switch out batteries three or four times a week. So, it is not going to make it to my next upgrade but not for the reason I thought it would fail.

Just a regular phone
I have bought in the last year several phones, and ended up getting rid of all of them. First it was a Blacberry, the Second one was the Samsung Behold II. I didn't want to pay for the data plan, as I use my IPod Touch 32GB to log on the internet and send emails. The Behold II was too slow and too many problems and had to charge the battery almost every day. I hatedd the touch screen. After reading the reviews on the Samsung SGH T479 (Note, I love T-Mobile, they are real people!) there were some Pros and Cons about this phone, but the rating of 8 was enough to entice my appetite. I just wanted a phone that I don't have to fiddle with it to make or receive phone calls and if I wanted to do some texting, clean and easy. So I took a chance and bought the Gravity 3 (used) in Mint condition ... I have bought in the last year several phones, and ended up getting rid of all of them. It does not feel flimssy and it is of very good quality. I guess if I wanted to, I can use to log on to the internet, but like I said before, I use other equipment, and better to do that with. Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung Gravity 3 for your average use.
