First off, let me pre-empt this review by saying that i purchased this amp used for $1500. Normally they run for about $2200 or so. what i was looking for in this amp was loud, clear distorted tone that is sharp and precise, and that cuts through the rest of the band in a live setting, which this amp excels at. It has two channels, (clean and distorted), and two separate EQ's for each channel, with a shared reverb control. on the back it has a female plug in for the power cable, a 16 ohm speaker input, and two 8 ohm inputs. the fact that it can't go to 4 ohms is really the only stand out flaw in my opinion, which is more of an annoyance than a problem that i can't work around. It also has a switch in the back which sets the bias for different types of tubes, which if you choose to switch to a different type, it saves you the hassle of having to get an amp tech to alter the circuit to accommodate the different tubes. this is definitely one of the best new production heads on the market today, and i feel it blends the more modern mid scooped tone with more vintage mid heavy tone very well, however, as its EQ section is very responsive and very versatile, you can achieve either one of these very easily if you so choose. now with all that being said, for $1500 used its a steal, but for $2200-$2300 new, i would have a hard time parting ways with that kind of money for this amp, despite how awesome it is. the flip side to that is that you could easily spend that much money looking for good tone in other amps but not finding it, so if you are on the tone quest, and you just want to have good tone and you have the money for it, i would recommend the Orange Rockerverb 100.Vollständige Rezension lesen
This amp rocks! 2 years ago I was debating buying an Orange rockerverb or Engl fireball. I went with the fireball. And now I have the rockerverb as well. Side by Side comparison... The clean channel is the cleanest ever. Roll off the bass, max the treble, and 3/4 mids and get a county twang. Or add more bass for a darker clean tone. The dirty channel is good. It has a pure, open, airy tone. Personally if you want face melting gain, get an Engl. The rockerverb can get face melting gain... at high volumes. Alas the tone is incredible.
Great all around amp. Ballsy as hell. I run 2 4x12 cabs with mine. Handles it no problem. One surprise was the reverb is really good. Not cheap like Marshall. I still miss the Marshall sound-the Rockerverb is definitely different-but they're both awesome. I've toured with a Rockerverb for the past 5 years-bought this as a backup and for bigger shows where i will use 2 amps onstage. Very dependable. Other than changing out the tubes once every 2 years I haven't had a problem. For a good all around solid amp you can't beat a Rockerverb. Get it!
