Zelda: Breath of the Wild may have gotten the most press this year, but Horizon: Zero Dawn is also a fantastic title that should not be overlooked. Guerrilla Games obviously poured a lot of work into this risky new IP, and their hard work certainly paid off. The gameplay (level/enemy design, combat) is not too challenging, but highly entertaining, the game's presentation (graphics, music, and sound) are simply superb, and even the story is engaging; keeping you invested in the well-paced cycle of action and stocking up supplies for the next battle. As someone who has gotten a bit bored with most open world games, I would highly recommend playing Horizon: Zero Dawn.

I just completed the platinum trophy for Horizon Zero Dawn and it was compelling from beginning to end. The characters, environment, and story remained interesting over the complete course of my ~65 hour play through. The combat is challenging and strategic through most of the game however near the end, with full upgrades and end game equipment, it became significantly easier. HZD has recently been updated to include a NG+ mode and an additional tier of difficulty for those seeking a greater challenge. The game makes several poignant social statements without throwing them in your face. It features a strong female protagonist that is consistently presented as such. It addresses dependence on technology, moral values, religious fanaticism, class system mechanics, and a variety of other issues. The game is not without flaws, some of the facial animations are a little awkward, and it borrows mechanics from a variety of other franchises. Overall though this PS4 exclusive has a place in the library of any fan of the action RPG genre.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best games that I have played in a long time. With great compelling gameplay, unique enemies, and stellar combat that will keep you on the edge, you will ultimately unravel a story that is far more complex than the simple plight of an outcast girl named Aloy. The planet needs you. Zero Dawn needs you. And ultimately, this game needs to be on your shelf if you have the system to play it on. Do yourself a favor and buy this game.

One of the best games I've played. Game play is very similar to Skyrim and The Last of Us, leaning more towards Skyrim. The graphics are great, better than Skyrim. It has so many side quests and opportunities to level up and find new gear, but not recquired for the main story. My favorite thing is that it's 3rd person view, so i can enjoy the character design and movements at all times.

Horizon Zero Dawn take Tomb Raider, Mass Effect, and Far Cry Primal put them in a blender and you get sony’s new hit IP Positives: Amazing graphics and visuals one of the best look games very photo realistic. Amazing use of 4K The post apocalypse lore is amazing seeing how the robots came to dominate the world and the fall of humanity/post society Generally interesting story following Aloy a Huntress from one of the tribes that form from the remnants of humanity trying to find out her origins and how the earth is ours no more Fun Bow and Arrow gameplay based on crafting, resource gathering, leveling up and getting new skills to become very overpowered by the end (IE Far Cry Primal and the new Tomb Raider) The ability to choose how to react in some situation (like in Mass Effect) Good Soundtrack and voice acting (mostly) Ashly Burch does a good job as the main protagonist Aloy An Open world filled with lots of interesting locations and is enjoyable to explore and find the secrets/collectables Negatives: Human enemies are bad and are easy to defeat they have dumb AI nothing like the robots which are a fun challenge The melee is floaty and unrefined The Fast travel system you need to buy an item to fast travel indefinitely or craft this finite item to go back and forth it's clunky and intrusive The UI is awful it takes a while to get use to needs to be cleaned up and streamlined Some bad facial animations for NPC especially in side missions (not Mass Effect Andromeda bad but still below average) Conclusion Despite some mechanics being unrefined it's still a fantastic game in my 50 hours I had the just one more hour syndrome during my playthrough. Guerilla is constantly supporting the game releasing patches and new content such as New Game + and the ultra hard difficulty. I am planning on doing a second playthrough on NG+ and on the ultra hard difficulty. Plus an expansion has been announced for November. One of my favorite games of 2017 so far a new and refreshing and original IP from Sony that shows what the PS4 and the Pro can do. I definitely recommend it!Vollständige Rezension lesen
