Not only did he deliver a short but sweet movie of one of the best franchises in the comic book world, he also paved the way for the other superhero films: wall-crawling Spiderman, the leather hugging Daredevil and soon to grace our big screens, the Hulk. The first film was an unmitigated success, and as a result 20th Century Fox have quite rightly given Singer the thumbs up for a longer, bolder film with a greater budget. After an attempt is made on the U.S President’s life by a mysterious blue mutant, anti-mutant campaigner Colonel Stryker (Cox) is given the go ahead from the White House to infiltrate Xavier’s school and ... Stryker also has a past connection with Wolverine (Jackman) as the film addresses his origins, which were kept a mystery in the first film. As the story unfolds, we find out that Stryker isn’t just carrying out a vendetta, but has his own ulterior motive that will jeopardise the lives of every mutant on the Earth. Singer comments that the prequel X-Men film was simply a trailer for this movie, and he isn’t wrong. Having already established the central characters and their mutant powers, he introduces a fairly decent storyline with some new faces (Nightcrawler, Pryo and Lady Deathstrike), whilst upping the elements which made the first film such a success – the humour, romance, eye-opening effects and set pieces. Consequently, it leads to a longer but not as well paced flick, with some slowdowns in narrative. Still, we do get to watch Logan go totally ape on an unsuspecting squad of invading commandos. True diehards out there may shun this since it doesn’t stick closely to the original comics, but this sequel surpasses most of the elements of the first, not astoundingly, but steadily. I am a sucker for all superhero films
I love all superhero films (except flash gordon). I bought X-men very cheaply from a supermarket, then X-men III but wouldnt watch III til I had seen II but couldnt find it in a supermarket hence the reason for purchasing it on ebay. I thouroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to any fan of superheroes.

If you've seen the first one you gotta see this, a great sequel ! shame that the series doesn't improve with the next one. More Action and at least 5x Cooler.
