I don't really find this movie to be scary, but then most "scary" movies don't scare me. To me it's like five revenge stories. Or not so much revenge, but karma coming back to bite bad people on the rear. The first story is that of a woman who kills her husband on Christmas Eve so she can cash in his insurance policy. While she's cleaning up the blood and trying to make it look like he fell down the stairs, there is a news bulletin on the radio warning people that a criminally insane man has escaped from the asylum, and he is dressed as Santa Claus. Psycho Santa shows up at the home of the woman who has just killed her husband. I'm not going to say the rest as I don't want to spoil it. The second story is that of a man that is leaving his wife and children to go live with his mistress. Of course his wife and children have no idea that he is leaving them. The man tells them goodbye, and then he goes and picks up his mistress. While the mistress is driving, the man is sleeping. He keeps having a horrible dream where he and his mistress have a bad car accident. The dream ends up coming true, and the man is in for a couple of surprises. I'm not going to spoil the rest. The third story is that of a snooty, heartless man who hates his elderly neighbor. The snobby man feels that the elderly man's modest home and the junk and dogs outside of it lower the property values so he does several very mean things to the old man in order to make him leave. As with the others I'm not going to spoil what happens. The fourth story is similar to the story of the monkey's paw. In this case, however, it is a small statue that grants three wishes. The story revolves around a married couple. The husband is broke as the result of shady business dealings, and he owes a lot of people a lot of money. The wife sees the statue, and although her husband reminds her of the story of the monkey's paw, she wishes for lots and lots of money. A moment after she does that, the phone rings. It's her husband's business associate telling the husband that he must come to the office. The husband leaves, and a mysterious man on a motorcycle ends up chasing him. The husband looks in his rearview mirror and sees that the man behind him has no face...only a skull. He freaks out, wrecks his car, and dies. Upon hearing this news of her husband's death, the wife decides to wish for him to come back exactly as he was before the accident. There is a knock at the door, and several men come in carrying a casket. The husband is still dead. Before he wrecked his car, he had a heart attack. The wife uses her last wish to wish her husband alive forever. I don't want to spoil the ending. The fifth and last story involves a home for the blind. A former army major takes over as the guy who runs it. He is a cold hearted man who gives the blind residents slop to eat while he has steak. In the winter he refuses to give the residents extra blankets, even one who is gravely ill. The ill man ends up dying due to the cold and lack of medical attention. The residents come up with a plan to give the major exactly what he deserves. Overall I think this movie is really cool, and I enjoy it a lot. It is nothing like the dismal Bordello of Blood or the modern Tales From the Crypt. This movie has not been released on DVD, nor is it even in print on VHS so it's a bit hard to find. The fake blood and some of the effects are kind of cheesy. Other than that, it's a cool movie. Not for everyone, but what movie is?Vollständige Rezension lesen
