    It was absolutely "tales of the South Pacific". . . might have added during WW2

    Michner is a prolific writer of words. . . and as a result the print in a pocketbook edition is really tiny. . . it was bold which helped. I've loved his Hawaii and I sort of expected the same. . . instead it was a different look at the participants in WW2 in this theatre. . He's a fine story teller and I guess this was at least partially real and not 100% fiction. . . There were some surprises. . . and I feel certain he would not have won a pulitzer if written today. . . I was 100% happy I got to read and sent it to my son the Retired Colonel. .

    Great book - Tiny print!

    Absolutely excellent book of short stories the content of which is on a par with ALASKA, THE SOURCE, etc. However the typeset is so small I am not able to read this version. Donated it to our local library.

    as a pulitzer prize winner it is is keeping with detail, personal thoughts, and inner conflict at a specific time and place

    good depiction of life and times in the south pacific islands during world war 2. good description of environment, living conditions, and interesting characters

    An Exquisite Blend of WWII History and Entertainment

    This historical novel portrays military life in the South Pacific during WWII in a very realistic way. I don't traditionally read fiction, but Michener gives enough truth and facts from personal experience to make reading fiction interesting!
