You can play louder and faster than ever with the Dunlop MXR M116 Fullbore Metal Distortion guitar effects pedal. A must have item for any metal guitarist, this stompbox roars onto your rig with its face melting gain and killer tones. Packed with features and a mean attitude, this pedal cranks up your guitar’s signal with only one thing in mind: getting the perfect metal sound. The compact and durable aluminum enclosure, heavy duty footswitch, and sturdy black knobs of the M116 are capable of withstanding a lot. This includes even the most violent gigs and jam sessions. Whether you are into aggressive riffing, speed shredding, or sweeping, the Fullbore Metal can be all you need to raise hell from your amp. The built in controls can give you a full spectrum of extreme sounds to play with. The gain dial goes from a powerful and smooth distortion to a grinding apocalypse. This pedal’s distortion is a very dynamic function that makes no concessions about its ear splitting intentions. Great for down tuned power chords and complex picking patterns across all six strings, the Fullbore can live up to your head banging expectations. The Low and High EQ dials can do a great job at adjusting your instrument’s bass and treble to your liking. However, it is the mid EQ frequency sweep that provides the MXR Fullbore with its characteristic versatility. Using the Freq dial, you can select the midrange frequency boosted by the mid EQ. This lets you perfect the darkened sounds of doom metal as well as the brighter sounds of thrash metal. Not satisfied with these brutal features, Dunlop decided to include even more refinements in this model. Pressing the Scoop button activates a midrange scoop that boosts highs and lows. It can be great for achieving that nu metal sound and compensating for the warmer, mellower sound of some amps or Fender guitars. For sharper syncopated riffs and reduced noise levels at high volumes, simply press the Gate button to activate the noise gate function. On the underside of the pedal, you will find the noise gate trigger control. This unique feature lets you fine tune the gate by adjusting the strength of the cutoff effect. It can be the ultimate tool for a cleaner performance even at insane distortion levels. High brightness LED lights can ensure visibility of activated function status even in well lit environments. The red light is for the scoop, green is for the noise gate, and blue is for the footswitch.Pair it up with your amp of choice and get ready to blast epic tunes. The ideal addition to a wider effects rig, this pedal can connect to other effects pedals on the board through short patch cables. It can fit right in with your full setup of pedals. This unit has true bypass functionality, letting your tone pass through it completely unmodified when turned off. You can switch between this stompbox and other pedals quickly to get the emphasis you need for solo sections. You can set your own distinctive tone during jaw dropping riffs. You can use an optional power adaptor and nest it into your gear. A 9V battery can also be used for onstage independence. If you want metal, you'll get it.
I've used this pedal as my high gain pedal for a little while now. I've noticed it's extremely responsive to the knobs and its got a pretty high treble threshold. The built in noise gate is nice. The mid scoop is awesome for a punchy lead. MXR/Dunlop are my favorite pedal makers and that's the reason this is on my board. I've found that I don't use it as often as I'd thought for my kind of music but its a great pedal to own. I will say that when engaged the pedal is so high gain that there's a constant noise in the amp even with the noise gate engaged. This is not just the one I bought either because I've tried multiple pedals at differen guitar shops through similar (always a tube amp) and gotten similar results. If you're looking for a highly responsive high gain pedal then I do ... I've used this pedal as my high gain pedal for a little while now. I do recommend considering the gain of your amplifier first before this pedal as the organic sound of your amps gain will probably sound a lot better. If you don't have a high gain amp then this may suffice.

Best f****** pedal on the planet for distortion.
Absolutely by far the best distortion pedal on the market. I'm very impressed with the tonal quality of the build and the sounds that you can obtain through this pedal. I have use a lot of distortion pedals in the past, and always looking for the one that just fit the best. This one is an absolute home run. I highly recommend this pedal for anyone that may utilize any type of distortion in the rig. 10 out of 10 Dunlop great job.Absolutely by far the best distortion pedal on the market. Sweet pedal!
I can't say enough positive things about this pedal. Roll the guitar volume down a little, set the gain at 9 o'clock, and it sounds like a fat OD. Gain past noon and it starts to get crazy. 3 o'clock and hit the mid scoop and your face will melt like the guy in Lost Arc when they open the Arc of the Covenant. I'd I could only keep one, this would it. Super responsive EQ controls, built to last. Excellent!I can't say enough positive things about this pedal. Only metal pedal you'll need
Full bore metal is exactly what you get. This thing can make any single coil pick up sound like a super strat or LP. If you want that great heavy new metal sound this is the pedal to get. Has a lot of great features that can modify the sound your looking for. Best pedal purchase I have made.

Great sound & tone, you can really hear the difference in the slightest adjustments on any volume/tone/bass/& gain knob. Also can adjust the frequency. Has a noise gate also on it. Can’t ask for really much more out of a pedal.
