You need to be sure this is what you need. In its hay day this was the top of the line Canon flash. That said it can still hold its own as a high end, high performance flash. Think about how you are going to use it. I bought it as a "master" flash for my EOS1 mkiii so I can use my EZ430ii as a slave. While it will work outdoors, it's best used in a studio environment. If your thinking of attaching the 580EXII to your EOS80 and using it outside for fill in flash, then yes sure it will do the job perfectly but its overkill. In the studio as a master flash controlling groups of slave flash(es) it will come into its own and is where it will perform best. In short, be sure you need one. If most of your work is out side when all you need is a fill-in flash there are cheaper models available and you would not need all the bells and whistles of the 580EXII Vollständige Rezension lesen

Having bought cheaper non-canon alternatives in the past I can say this is an amazing speedlite. I wish I'd just put my hand in my pocket the first time around. The hotshoe attachment is super easy to use and very quick to get it on and off the camera. The recycle time is great, battery life is great, I've had no problems on auto with flash intensity. I've had good results off camera (using an ettl cable). Well worth the extra money. To get the best results I'd recommend buying the Speedliters Handbook. Which explains everything about using it.
This product is all they say it is. I admit I have not yet had time to go through its endless functions yet, but straight out of the box and in ETTL, this Flash does wonders all by itself. Fill in and bounce flash are truly giving my pictures a whole new dimension of color and sharpness. It took me about a month to decide I wouls spend what this flash actually costs. I considered a Vivitar (cheaper plastic?), Metz (supposedly good but not AS good) or a Canon 4380EX-II (limitations on the head's swivel). I am glad I decided to spend on the 580EX-II. No regrets: this is a fantastically well built and professional piece of equipment and I anticipate it will bring me many years of enjoyable photography. Minor comment: this is a bulky flash (as you would expect for this type) so if you're looking for something portable for simple amateur photography, you might want to consider Canon's soon-to-be-released 270EX II. Also, the pouch is good but on the downside, has no hooks or places through which you might pass a lace, belt, strap or alike: no way to easily strap it onto my top-load camera pouch.Vollständige Rezension lesen
It's everything everyone says it is...powerful, easy to use and versatile. I've now tested the unit on my G9, G12, 5D, 5D Mark II and am extremely pleased with the results. I've used Fong shaders and PocketWizard Multimax and Plus II with flawless results. The recycle time is good, but I'm looking forward to receiving and testing out my new external battery pack. This is a pro unit all the way. I know there are other systems out there, but it's hard to imagine a better one than this for the vast majority of shots. Highly recommended.
Ease of use and features. Was the flagship Canon flashgun before the introduction of the radio triggered 600EX RT.
