Anyone who watched the series "life on mars" will be instantly drawn to this cd. Not the obvious choices for representative music of the decade (70's), but a wonderful eclectic mix of hits i.e. "tokoloshe man" by John Kongos, "devil's answer" by Atomic rooster, to name two. Add to these some atmospheric tracks evidently picked to smooth over the various scenes of the programme, "snow flower" by ananda shankar. The compiler of this compilation evidently had great fun sifting through what is a sometimes derided era of music. why I rated good and not excellent points to the dialogue. Three pieces, beginning, middle and end, simply aren't enough. Good as they are, showing the razor sharp script and delivery of Philip Glenister, more of the same al a "The Sweeney" from a few years ago could not but enhance the work.
