Bought this because I saw him demo some acoustics for wildwood guitars on youtube, and he's either insanely talented or demonically possessed. He'd have a hard time convincing anyone he was anything but the former, but he tries a little too hard trying to convince you of the later here (for my tastes.) I came to this DVD as someone who doesn't have a ton of experience playing electric lead, so maybe it's not for me, but I found it to be pretty skimpy on content. It's basically a few tips and tricks, based on the players mentioned on the cover, interspersing live performances of different tracks. There didn't seem anything very thorough about it and it's nothing you can't find for free from (potentially, but not necessarily, lesser) guitarists on youtube. On the other hand, you're getting these tips from a guy who is undeniably issuing them from a throne of guitar-mastery-nirvana, and I can imagine someone with a fairly robust style coming away with some cool new stuff to try.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Greg Koch can obviously play at a pretty high level, and he 'gets' the (often subtle) specifics of the blues styles he's explicating/exhibiting here, but his goofy, over-the-top delivery is distracting, and, after a while, trying... The DVD itself is produced fairly well, ie, it looks and sounds good, but is not programmed well, as it kicks back to the menu after every little section, even within a given song/style, which is majorly frustrating... You spend half your time wrestling with the remote instead of the licks and your guitar... I'd recommend it if they'd program some other 'Play' options into it and tell Greg Koch that when people watch it over and over (like you might an instructional DVD, for instance) that a little goes a long way...
