great game which deserves to have renewed licenses and be relisted. It has an incredible body-swap mechanic which is implemented perfectly with no loading and plenty of unique dialogue for each car you swap into. There's a substantial car list with every car you could imagine, want to drive a firetruck? go for it. would you prefer a ramp truck? you got it. maybe you want to act like normal traffic, well you have plenty of options to accommodate you. Perhaps you want to treat it like a regular racing game, you can do that too with a long list of super, hyper, and sports cars

The Driver franchise seemed to lose focus after the "sandbox" era of gaming came into effect after Grand Theft Auto III. There were a couple of entries in the series that fell short of fan's expectations, and quite frankly weren't very much fun. After a 5-year break however, Driver: San Francisco rebounds the series right back to the top of the "holy crap this is fun" category. The entire game takes place in-car, and that is just fine. You can still carjack unsuspecting soccer moms a la GTA, but you do it by utilizing the new & innovative "Shift" mechanic. Without spoiling the story elements, it comes to pass that John Tanner [your protagonist, the same from Driv3r] is able to jump from car to car via a "Quantum Leap" style effect that is incredibly fun to play with and is also quite useful during some chase sequences if you get the hang of using it effectively. If you're a fan of racing games, you will be right at home with the physics of the driving in this game. If you, like myself, are not a total racing sim fanatic, then it is still very easy to pick up. There are a plethora of officially licensed vehicles, and each has their own quirks and nuances. The detailed car models look amazing @ 1080p, and the damage system lets you smash them up to hell and back if you wish to. If you can pick this one up for a reasonably discounted price here on eBay, I highly recommend giving Driver: San Francisco a try. I am having all kinds of fun with it. I have never been to San Fran personally, but a few more hours with this game and I might just "borrow" somebody's suped-up classic Charger and take a cross-country road trip. [Full Disclosure: I, in no way shape or form, advocate carjacking. Unless it's on an unsuspecting soccer mom. In that case, git ta' gittin]Vollständige Rezension lesen
As a car guy, I'm always playing Forza. But back in 2011, a little known game released on Xbox360 called Driver: San Francisco. While the handling and game modes are significantly more "arcadey" than Forza, it is a delight to pop in and play; especially for couch co-op. There is a wide variety of licensed cars from all different time periods, and each one looks, sounds, and handles in it's own unique way. The crash damage is spectacular, the police AI is extremely formidable and reckless (think GTA5), and the game modes are a hoot and a holler. My only real critique is the single player campaign. It's a chore to play, with bad voice acting and predictable and boring plot. The multiplayer servers are surprisingly still up at the time of this review (3/11/2022), but they're empty. You will either have to coordinate with others to populate the server, or stick with split-screen. The multiplayer modes are where this game shines. I have spent countless hours playing tag, checkpoint, and survival, always with a grin on my face and a beer in my hand. Since the licensing expired for all of the vehicles in the game, it is no longer available for digital purchase or download. You'll have to buy a physical copy, and shell out about $30 for used or $70 new, more than the original price! Copies of this game will eventually be in short supply, and the cult following means you'll want to grab a copy while you still can!Vollständige Rezension lesen

What to say, the game is incredible. I played it on my Xbox Series X and it looks fantastic. You won't find a game with a better game mechanic, the shift, which, by combining gameplay and story, makes the game flow very naturally. 100% recommend.

I loved the feel of the 1st Driver game & I remember disliking the gameplay of Driv3r's "ghosting", preferring pure driving. But, with so many more immersive games that are out, this retro upgrade's more fun than I originally thought!
