Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH
I bought this camera to replace an older dated Sony Mavica. Have a need for the macro close up function and also wanted the smaller more portable pocket size. This is an excellent small digital camera. The view screen is large and easy to see in all but the brightest sunlight. It has several in camera effects and takes good quality videos as well. I am still exploring the capabilities of this camera and have quickly become very comfortable with it. I would highly recommend this model to any one with average to advanced amateur photo interests that wants a pocket sized 6 Megapixel camera. My only disappointment has been the digital zooms low quality images at high magnification. Great battery life, 100-200 images per charge without flash. Additional batteries are inexpensive, carry 2 or 3 ... I bought this camera to replace an older dated Sony Mavica. Great small digital camera
I currently own a Canon Rebel, which I love but is so big- so I wanted to try something a little big smaller, but that would still take great pictures. Canon makes a great camera and I love the fact that the display screen is larger than most other cameras. Very easy to use and a perfect size to carry. The one downside I have is a short pause before the picture takes, but besides that, it takes great pictures!I currently own a Canon Rebel, which I love but is so big- so I wanted to try something a little big smaller, but that would still take great pictures. Canon SD630 Elph Camera...For around $60 it's great!
THE GOOD: Very high quality focused pictures with flash on, video records/plays sound and highest setting is suitable for DVD, I was able to record over an hour of high quality video with 1 charge. Macro mode for pics and video is quite good. Color Swap function is fun. Lots of options in settings. Can edit videos in camera to free up space. Small enough to carry/hide. 3 inch LCD is great for watching. The zoombrowser software makes getting photos onto the pc easy. THE BAD: You can only get like 50 shots per charge if you use "flash" but well over 100 w/out, however the NB-4L batteries can be had on ebay for just a couple bucks. You can't use more than a 2gb sd card which is fine for pics but thats only 18 minutes of high qaulity video. But you can get 2gb cards for around 5 ... Buttons are a little cramped for large fingers. It doesnt have a stabalizer so if your not using flash you have to hold it steady or risk getting a blurry pic. Menu/Settings can be a challenge to learn for the novice. So the cameras pretty nice but being from 2006 it has some limitations that might effect you. It was originally $300 but can be purchased used for around $60 but be sure it's gauranteed to fully work but thats ebay basics. I bought mine used with over 4000 photos shot on it. I've shot over 700 pics and lots of videos and everythings goin strong. Like I said batteries and chargers are cheap on ebay so you can have spares ready. Be sure to read/download the manual to learn the camera & many options. Bottom line...I like it.

Great little camera. Older nowadays and only 6 megapixel but that is plenty for my normal use which consists of printing 3x5 or web use. Takes good videos, 30fps. Only handles up to 2 gig SD cards, cannot handle SDHC cards. 3x optical zoom. No viewfinder, only has LCD viewfinder. Bought it because the price was good and the size of the camera. I wanted a good fast camera that takes good pictures that is tiny and it fit the bill.Great little camera.
