This is a surprisingly good lens that is available quite cheaply. Build quality is reminiscent of the pro-level 35-70mm f/2.8 AF-D, which goes for about $300. Being a push-pull zoom, the lens is quick-handling and easy to use. Contributing greatly to its handiness is the compact size: at the 35mm setting, the lens is almost exactly the same length as an AF-S 35mm f/1.8G FX lens, but a bit narrower; and at 105mm it grows just 25mm (1") longer. The lens is very sharp in the center of the image, even shot wide open. Unusually for a normal zoom, it may actually be sharper at the long end than the short. On the other hand, at 35mm, the corners of the FX frame are quite blurry due to coma until you stop down to at least f/5.6. (On a DX camera, the corners will look much better.) At the long end, the FX corners are acceptable at f/4.5 and good at f/5.6. Compared to the AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 G VR—probably Nikon's most popular normal full-frame zoom these days—this MUCH smaller lens has a 26% narrower angle of view at the wide end but is 24% longer at the long end. Of course, it lacks VR, and the newer lens focuses over twice as close and has better corner performance. Still, when you consider how inexpensive, well constructed, and performant this little lens is, you have to admit it's not a bad alternative.Vollständige Rezension lesen

It's definitely an older lens, so the weight is much heavier than any newer lenses. But the value you get for the price range is great! I needed a mid range zoom that I could use on the fly with my dslr and it was perfect. The focus to zoom ratio is a little wacky at first but once you figure it out, it's a great lens!

This item received a very good review during an internet search on lens performance. I liked the quick auto focus of the lens. The zoom function is a slide, meaning the lens barrel slides forward or backward to zoom in or out. This is an excellent "standard" lens that will stay on the camera most of the time because it will zoom from wide angle (35mm) through normal 50mm) to 2X telephoto (105mm). Making this lens a good for wide angle shots to a telephoto portrait lens.
This is good all around lens, not a great all around lens. It is not very fast, but it has a great range 35-105mm. Good Day, outdoor lens, because it's light and compact. Good portrait lens, as long as you control the lighting and use a tripod. Not great for event indoors, with unpredictable light and hand held. Overall a good lens for the right price and sercomstance.
The Nikon 35-105mm lens is a must have for the serious photographer professional or new like me. It allows for multi uses and delivers crystal clear pictures.
