Carly Simon DVD review from Lancaster PA
I've been wanting this dvd for some time, and you certainly can't buy it in any local stores, so I chose this eBay purchase. The DVD was in perfect factory like condition, almost as if no one had even opened it, and believe me, I examined it under strong lighting! I loved the song line up! I grew up in the 70's-80's, so it was actually desireable for the concert to have been from 87. But one small, very noticeable defect, either from the original version, which at the time was put to VHS, or whether the transformation in the DVD process, there are some obvious BLANK spots in the sound. They are very short, and may not even be a whole second, but you can easily notice even a half secong of blank silence in songs you are very familiar with. And there are three or four ... And there are three or four tracks with that blank. And there may be one or two of the blanks per track. However, the majority of songs don't have the blank. Unfortunately, "You're so vain" is one that has it. I could say that I am certain, that they are a recording/processing error, and are not from the usage of the dvd. As I said, the DVD is in PRISTINE condition. Otherwise I am very happy with it, and love the timing of 1987, since I love the 80's anyway. I would buy it again, and would recomend it, and will continue to play it. Furthermore, I often times notice minor sound flaws in 80's productions from other artists. That being said, I still don't understand why this concert, and many others, aren't readilly available at music/electronics stores all over the US. You should be able to walk into a Walmart and buy this. It's absolutely worth 20.00 dollars! Somebody didn't make the kind of money that this had the potential of making. Thank goodness they did remake this in 2004, for the dvd version that I speak of, because I never would have bought a vhs at this point and time. I recommend it! And I will never part with mine. Quality songs like it offers are/were such an important tie to back in the 80's and when I was growing up. It's almost as important as an old family video from back then. It's definately medicine, on somedays to go back. Do you know what I mean?

Carly at her best at Martha's Vineyard
Very good concert video with the sights of beautiful Martha's Vineyard scenery in the background while Carly Simon sings some of her biggest and best songs to the outdoor audience. The sound on the remastered concert is great and the interview with Carly Simon years after the concert is very interesting. She tells you about the weather issues they had and it all adds flavor to a wonderful concert event. Recommend this concert very highly as well as her Carly Simon concert "A moonlight Serenade on the Queen Mary" concert/video. Very good concert video with the sights of beautiful Martha's Vineyard scenery in the background while Carly Simon sings some of her biggest and best songs to the outdoor audience. The sound on the remastered concert is great and the interview with Carly Simon years after the concert is very interesting. Nobody Does it Better,....Live from Martha's Vineyard
Carly Simon is worth every penny I've ever spent on her work..As an avid fan, I have all her music recordings and this DVD concert from 1987 still "rules" as top Carly Simon,...Even though Carly is worth the money, you can now purchase this DVD from her official website for a song ! That's where I got it. I've waited so long,...It's been re-released, thank gawd almighty !! Nobody Does it Better !! UPDATE: May 11th, this wonderful DVD will be re-issued at retail cost, go to CD Universe.com and other stores,....for those of you who have also , waited too long,....ENJOY !!Carly Simon is worth every penny I've ever spent on her work..As an avid fan, I have all her music recordings and this DVD concert from 1987 still "rules" as top Carly Simon,...Even though Carly is worth the money, you can now purchase this DVD from her official website for a song ! This is a most rare live concert video and shows Carly in an unusual setting for a concert video but she is clearly enjoying herself and providing great enjoyment for the live concert audience and those who get to see this wonderful video. There are many gems especially the "itsy bitsy spider" interlude. I had watched this years ago on UK BBC television but the recording I mmade is on a PAL Betamax videotape so I leapt at the chancento bid on a rare auction copy of the DVDThis is a most rare live concert video and shows Carly in an unusual setting for a concert video but she is clearly enjoying herself and providing great enjoyment for the live concert audience and those who get to see this wonderful video. I used to have it on VHS and I was so.happy to be able to buy it on dvd. One of Carly Simon's best concerts. I love it!
