This is Spalding Gray's most fluid, coherent and universaly familiar piece of writing. I had always found that Spalding's stories flowed beautifully when he was on stage presenting them but on paper they seemed jagged and uneven. "Morning, Noon and Night", however, flows. He didn't write this in his usual clippy and fragmented style - instead, he followed one story into the next with a sweetness of clarity. As in his other writings, we do get glmpses into his past but, unlike other work, he was able to ease his way back into the present instead of clumsily jumping around. The book follows Spalding thru a typical day from waking up and having breakfast with his children to time with his wife to a bike ride with his youngest to mahem at dinner and, finally, his last thoughts as he drifts off to sleep in bed. We get a crisp, warm, magical glimpse of a calm, ordinary day into a life that (for years) had only known instability. THIS monologue works as written. I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes to hear Spalding Gray's words one more time. I wish we could look forward to more writing like this.......Vollständige Rezension lesen
