London in the early C19th; John Keats has given up his professional life as a doctor to concentrate on his poetry. Lodging with a friend in Hampstead he meets the wilful, worldly daughter of his neighbour... a Jane Campion film is guaranteed to have beautiful, lyrical photography, as well as a wonderfully vivid take on costume and interior scenes, achieved with economy of time and styling - there is no sense of - look how expensive and perfect our props are; If you are a person who willingly watches select movies several times at least, this movie will delight you and send you straight off to discover more of Keats poetry, and the facts of his and Fannys tragic love story. You may need to see it again to unravel the somewhat chaotic time line and relationships - its worth it! I loved the costumes and Abby Cornishs self conscious strangeness; Ben Whishaw raises an emotional storm without being cloying or pompous, a human lightning conductor of a poet for any age.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Love this film. I already have it myself. Bought this one for s present. For anyone who loves John Keats, this is a great gift. A well made film with excellent casting. It is a sad tale, but based on fact.
