Pictures constantly comming out UNSHARP! HD video is just OK and GAS HOG!
I had just bought this fh5 silver one for $129 on sale at Best Buy. Having owned it for only a whole day. Comparing to my last camera, and even the cheaper 3.2mp camera as well. What I like? 1) Well, Its very compact! 2) Its decently easy to use. Just use the IA mode. Camera supposed to make every imaginable adjustment to make a perfect picture for anybody who know nothing about those complex controls. Thats nice there! Its simple to switch from stills to video mode. 3) Has HD video. Its not that bad of quality, but its NOT as good as my HD camcorder. Handles low light OK. 4)Not a touch screen (I dont like those that much anyhow) 5)Accepts HUGE memory cards Up to 64 gb, yes 64gbs! 6)Very nice looking camera! 7)Tons of features! NOW for what dissapoints me as this time. 1) The video mode: Theres only 3 modes to choose. The 240 line, 640 line, and 720 line(HD). Forget about the 240 mode, its crap. A CHILDS camera is better than this! The 640 mode is similar to the OLD VHS camcorder. Its OK. The HD mode, is not bad. BUT it probably no better than a miniDV camcorder. Quality is grainy. But OK! 2) I have been complaining about the quality of the pictures it takes. Many of them keep coming out blurry. Many come out to soft. I TRIED EVERY setting. I used the sharp, vivid etc settings. I tried changing flash settings, the works! And STILL getting unpleasing results. Those pic LACK sharpness. Its like if its not focusing properly. MY cheaper 3.2 camera takes MORE clear pictures! 3) all those tons of items are confusing to understand and use! 4) Ultimately what I really dislike, ITS A GAS HOG!!!.....or should I say MEMORY CARD HOG! BOY IS IT EVER! The pictures (at 16mp mode) take about 6 megs! Well thats normal, just use the lower setting like 5mp for instance, then itll be alright, takes a couple megs instead of 6 for EACH picture. NO BIGGI for me on the STILL mode. BUT...... There is NO changing the amount of megs for the video in the HD mode. THIS part is the GAS HOG! For each minute in the HD mode takes as much a 185 mb! Imagine that Just five minutes take 1 gigabyte! Thats too much for me, so this will make me stop on my tracks for continue to use the video mode, Unless theres a way to convert the videos to a format that the same quality but uses less memory. The files are .MOV or motion Jpeg format BTW. So all in all. I have to rate this cam just OK for now. 5 out of 10. For which the constantly lack of sharp pictures, and the HD video mode being a GAS HOG, takes away all the points! BUT the price is GOOD! Im thinking maybe the mechanical parts of focus needs to break in or something. I am planning to RETURN to store, and get something better, for which more importantly, hoping to find a cam with HD video thats better than this FH5 and is easy. EASY NOW.. on the GAS! (my expression for space on memory card) ******UPDATE***** Well it never got better! I then was seeing alot of spots in the pics! I then got fed up with putting up with the blurry sh*t. So I returned to store. Too late for refund. (WISH I WOULD HAVE RETURNED THAT DAY... DANG!) They fix, 2 weeks, now they left a smudge mark inside lens (wasnt like that when I took in)! Idiots! I take it back. For them to tell me its my fault. Now my cam is useless now. CRAP

Overall a good compact camera
Overall a good camera for the price. I'm just a point and shoot person. Not interested in lots of bells and whistles. I just want to click the picture and have it work well. This camera does the job. It's easy to use and compact and easy to carry. I've had mine for 2 years and it still works properly. It does seems to struggle a little bit with the flash. Sometimes when I use the flash the picture actually comes out darker. So, I just turn the flash off when that happens and use whatever light is in the room.Overall a good camera for the price. I'm just a point and shoot person. Not interested in lots of bells and whistles. I just want to click the picture and have it work well. This camera does the job. It's easy to use and compact and easy to carry. I've had mine for 2 years and it still works properly. It does seems to struggle a little bit with the flash. Panasonic " Lumix " perfect in all aspects
I have a Canon XS. but I have wanted a LUMIX for a very long time. As soon as I got it in the mail from EBay it was mothers day so I gave it away. I just saw the pictures taken with it, They are absolutely great for a point and shoot. The macro is amazing. I knew from years of watching, and liking this camera, I wouldn't be disappointed. It's a great camera to take along when you don't have the time to deal with the lens on a DSL camera. I'm watching for another one on EBay that's in working order. YES, for quality, by all means Lumix is perfect no matter which camera they put out. Always do research before purchasing any brand of electronics. it was a good purchase
the pictures are great but they start to lose quality really quick. even when you put them as a wallpaper on your computer the pictures lose quality.

a great little camera....no problems...best lens of any camera I own ! Wonderful value that I found on eBay.
