This book starts off exciting and contues to keep you on the edge of your seat. My daughter needed to write a book report for this book. If you would like to read what an 11 year old had to say, read on. The Kingdoms Dawn. __________________ by Chuck Black Review by Rachel I’ve never been in a situation that I lost both my parents, my home and had to take care of a little servant girl as well as myself. In the book Kingdoms Dawn by Chuck Black, a 16 year old young man named Leinad had to live through all that and much more. I loved Leinad, the main character, because he had a kind and loving soul, yet was faithful in everything he did. He could protect himself and Tess through his excellent sword fighting adventures. He had faith by listening to his father’s trusted friends and carrying out their wishes, like when he fought a bad king. He never gave up his morals and values and remained faithful to the King even though he had yet not met him. Tess is a young girl with a great personality. Before Leinad met Tess she worked as a slave girl in a farm exchange for a place to sleep and a small meal every day that filled her stomach hardly. She has a sweet heart that was abused her whole life like by working for this harsh lady in her farm none stop! Leinad's father was an excellent role model. His name was Payton, He taught Leinad the ways of the "King" and told him of his journey to follow Him. His father was kind to people, admitted his imperfections, and did his best to prepare his son for the life the "King" has planned for him. Leinad and Tess are on a big adventure through the whole book. They are on their way to find the king but they don’t even know it. They get stuck in near death experiences fighting for their life like when Tess almost died in their burning house and Leinad had to go and save her. The book the Kingdoms Dawn is an exciting book based of the Bible. Kingdoms Dawn is appropriate for kids above the age of 12 theirs no bad language and there is nothing inappropriate in this book. I’d recommend it all though there is some violence along the way its nothing bad. I think this book is helpful to people by helping them relate to the events and the people in their own lives and situations.Vollständige Rezension lesen
The tale of the Bible translated into a medieval Celtic kingdom is the basis for the Kingdom Series. "Kingdom's Dawn", the first in the series, follows Leinad, a young man who typifies many of the early Old Testament characters. Sometimes the allegory seems a little too strained, and Chuck Black does not have the most flowing style, but he certainly has come up with a captivating allegory. Leinad uses his sword, representing the Word, to fight for the King. At one point his people are enslaved in a land, and the allegory is very obvious, as the king who finally lets them go is named "Lord Fairos". There are other like situations that are made very plain in case anyone might have forgotten what the series really is about. As in Bunyan's "Holy War" - which is the best Biblical allegory I have ever read - the same people represent more than one Biblical character or image, so as to have a cohesive story that does not expand over thousands of years. This book correlates to the Biblical account from Creation, through the flood, and into the Egyptian captivity, although often couched in quite different (but very apparent) symbols, all while our hero Leinad is still in his youth. All in all, I enjoyed this book and all the fantastic imagery that reminds one of the Scriptures and their power, and our King.Vollständige Rezension lesen
We heard the author speak at our annual homeschool conference and was intrigued by his books. My oldest daughter (13) started reading them (they are at our library) and loves them so much she wants her own set for Christmas. The family started listening to the audio version (we're currently on book 2) and we are all tremendously enjoying these as well. Well written. Parts are a bit intense (at least in the audio) for my just turned 7yo (mooshi beast scene in book 1), but otherwise I'd recommend these for just about all ages.
My son's and even my daughter are LOVING this series, I love the content Nd that I don't have to worry about the content.
This book plus the next 5 in the series was put in our church library. The kids love it. I needed this book to finish the series. I got #'s 2-6 at a very good price, but the 1st in the series was missing.
