This is a book about game six of 1975 WS between the Reds and Red Sox--Fisk wins it with his famous home run, but the Reds come back in game seven and win the WS. But this book covers much more than just this game and this WS. There is a background history of the teams and players and managements both on the field and front office. Remember the next year starts free agency and a whole new system will be put in place that will change relationships between players and management. When you read about some of the personal relationships (good and bad) between players and their managers and owners and people in the front office--you can see why the players and their union pushed the way that they did, but at the same time some wonderful human interactions were also taking place and maybe some of that would be gone forever. I believe a great deal of those interactions have been lost ,but many still exist as there are still good people on both sides(but it is now harder for them to perform those personal interactions) and many still work together and behind the scenes---and those relationships form the basis of any winning team and even trump talent and skill on occasion. If you are a baseball fan (certainly a Reds or Red Sox fan) you will want to read this book.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Pudge Fisk. #27. Catcher. Homers on a 1-0 pitch from Reds pitcher Pat Darcy leading off in the bottom of the 12th inning in game 6 of the 1975 World Series to give the Red Sox a 7-6 win to tie the series at 3-3. The most dramatic exciting moment in world series history!!! This book is about every nailbiting moment of the greatest game ever played that led to that moment. Bernie Carbo, Dwight evans, all the moments captured by this writer from a true fans perspective. Nothing but the facts written eloquently from a fan and great writer. 5 stars out of 5!!!!!!
