Product Information

Ripped from the pages of Robert E. Howard's preeminent pulp series, the mighty Conan muscles onto Xbox 360 as a sword-swinging action game in the spirit of Ninja Gaiden and God of War. As players navigate the lush world of Hyborea, they will confront bloodthirsty warriors, powerful beasts, and towering boss characters. The heart of the game is its combo-heavy combat engine, which incorporates grapple attacks, projectiles, shield blocks, and support for multiple weapon types. Conan can specialize in skill trees devoted to one-handed weapons, dual wielding, or two-handed weapons by spending points earned through leveling.

The environments also play a role in combat, as players can toss enemies onto spikes, throw them into sludge pools, or set them on fire by igniting dry underbrush. In keeping with the tone of the books, each fight in Conan typically involves dismemberment, blood spatter, snapping bones, and other barbaric feats. While normally averse to magic, the hero has been cursed with new elemental powers to use in battle. Conan's quest, however, is to rid himself of the dark magic, eventually taking him across eight realms. In addition to hearing the lamentation of the women, players will listen to an original orchestral score that sets the stage for the thrusting, slicing, and maiming that follows.

  • Fun game with great soundtrack

I've always been a big fan of Conan movies and I figured this game wouldn't disappoint me. I was right. It's definitely not a game I'd recommend letting your children watch you play due to the gore and sexual inuendos. The nice thing though is the developers have included an option when you first run the game to disable the gore factor. There are several ways to dismember enemies as well as disembowel them. For me it was very satisfying to watch Conan as he sliced things in half. As for the sexual side of things, you have to rescue several women and they all were clothed only in a bikini bottom or loin cloth. They were naked otherwise. The soundtrack is excellent and reminds me of the God of War soundtracks. Of course the Conan movies have always had epic music to go along with ...

  • Conan A MUST HAVE !!! satisfying adventure

If you love the type of games that you have to go and slash enemies and collect items you will love this game! The game opens up with Conan, voiced here by a decidedly unbarbaric-sounding Ron Perlman, out on an adventure, battling marauding specters on a remote island while in search of a valuable gem. The story, which is told as though it were an ancient campfire legend, isn't terribly weighty, even though at one point you're essentially tasked with saving the world. Still, it does a good job of establishing the primal and lawless feel of the land of Hyboria. The only thing about Conan is it`s length!!! At around 9 hours, it's a pretty brief adventure. But a good deal of craft went into making all of the game's over the top violence look so great, and it's the kind of guilty pleasure ...

  • Conan for my XBOX

Well, the first thing that I loved about this game was the title itself. Conan. I grew up watching those movies, infact the first time I remember going to the theater was a double feature with Conan the Barbarian and Raiders of the Lost Arc. I was only 4 years old but somehow I remember. When I saw that XBOX 360 had Conan for their system I needed to get one (also OBLIVION made up my mind too to buy one). Conan is a great hack-slash game but that's about it. It can be fun at times when I feel like playing a brainless game but that's about it. I havn't gotten that far in it, I find myself playing OBLIVION most of the time, but I do enjoy the game. I just with they had the same music from the movies in the game.

  • Fan boy only recomended

If you are a fan of the Conan comics or The Phoenix on the Sword,King Conan,Krull, etc.then you will like maybe even love this game so long as your not spending a whole lot on it(goes for about 10bucks new).It is full of all the classic Conan one liners that a non fan may find corny. The graphics are good and the artwork is what you would expect from some of the better classic Conan books.Theres some nudity and sexual connotations(which is why its rated M) pretty standard stuff for Conan. Game play has no problems. There are button mashing combos that can be upgraded as you progress through the story. Hard core gamers will find it repetitious unless they are Conan fans and they follow it through the story for the same reason they would pick up a comic book...

  • THQ's Conan is a lot of fun, blood and gore aside, and is worth a try.

I bought this game on a whim- I was told it was a fun fighting/platform crossover by a friend, and it did not disappoint. It's fast-paced, has a good learning curve and a wide array of combos and finishing moves. One of the more novel features, to my thinking anyway, is Conan's ability to pick up his enemies weapons to better combat various foes using different fighting styles. THQ put a lot of work into getting it right, and their effort really shines through here. My biggest detraction is the camera- it's at unusual "cinematic" angles that change often and unexpectedly, which can make some of the platforming sections really tricky. A few of the boss fights rely heavily on quick time events, which I'm not particularity fond of, as it's merely memorizing the patterns and timing- no skill ...
