      "Eyes Wide Shut" - An Eye Opener!

      Although I am not a fan of Tom Cruise or Nicole Kidman, I find Stanley Kubrick’s last film, “Eyes Wide Shut” fascinating. The basic plotline of the film is one man’s erotic odyssey and the ramifications of his journey. Cruise does an adequate job as the main character, getting caught up in his surreal quest; and Kidman gives her standard “wooden” performance, although her character does call for a modicum of remoteness. The score is haunting, and visually the film is striking - Kubrick filmed using existing source lighting (table lamps, overhead lights, etc.) whenever possible, which adds to the film's flavor. The hedonistic masked ball is a combination of a man’s nightmare and wet dream rolled into one. Stanley Kubrick considered this to be his greatest film, and ironically died ...

      Watch it with someone you love.

      This is the version to get, so do it while you can. It's a Christmas movie for the whole family! Seriously, it's one of the most important films of the 20th century and cost Kubrick his life, and the interviews with Kidman and Cruise make this pretty clear. Enough has been said about it already. Watch it.

      Gotta watch a few times.

      Good movie, but gotta watch it a few times to really understand what's going on. Maybe it's my ADD, sometimes my mind wanders when a movie drags a little then I miss something.

      Avoid

      Stanley's last movie I thought I had it for the collection. In hindsight, skip it. It is better to keep his memory and body of work pure and killer. This is a boring piece of trash.

      Eyes Wide Shut

      This is a fascinating movie. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are perhaps offering a prophetic statement of their true life relationship. The sexual energy in this film is stunning. The vivd and explicit scenes are stimulating as well as erotic in a animalistic way. The comfort the actors and actresses display in their nudity and sexual performance is both refreshing and intriguing.
