I decided to purchase this movie because of the "get away" quality of the theme and the aspects of the cars. Not that I am into vintage muscle cars but today's movies don't really have those type of cars in them. I watched "The Fast & The Furious" and the part of the movie that was the best for me was watching Vin Diesel race the black muscle car which he apparently had in a shed for years. Yes, we have incredible fast, slick vehicles today which have great safety features (my husband keeps reminding me), but for great old days of speed and looks, my vote goes back in time. The movie does have ridiculous, dumber than dumb blond on the part of Dirty Mary. I wanted to reach into the TV set and slap her, plus throwing her out into the road a dozen times. Peter Fonda is Crazy Larry who is incredibly patient, making crazy mistakes everytime he turns around. So does the co-hort which helps him along the way. All in all, none of them are the "sharpest tool in the shed" so to speak, but they have wild fun and crazy speed throughout the movie. Vic Morrow is a rarity to see as he typically plays the Big Fish in a pond of lots of smaller, dummy fish who can't get things right making his ego and his stradegy traits get sharper as the lead law enforcer. For what it is, it's an older, wacked out movie about breaking laws, speeding in cool cars and it is in a class by itself along with all the movies like this of their time.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I had been trying to track down this movie for a long time, and I had missed it when it first came out in 1974. I knew it had acquired some sort of cult status, so I'd always been curious about it. It is NOT a masterpiece, mind you, but a good movie it surely is, one that could have only been made in the early '70's; it looks like it was shot, edited, wrapped up and released in one week, but that's what's also good about it. It has none of the "mystic" of, say, Spielberg's Duel or the sense of imminent tragedy of (again) Spielberg's, Sugarland Express, but it still retains its charm as very loose and carefree (most likely underbudget)carchase movie. The three actors (Fonda, Roarke and George, whose glorious first line is: "Hey you, a...hole!", and can't decide for the whole movie on a British vs. American accent, but we love her just the same, don't we?) are clearly having fun and at ease with each other, altough the acting is on the whole quite "middle of the road" (no pun intended). True, the ending is quite unexpected and is a kudo. All in all, it's something to watch and enjoy. Watchout those of you whose mother tongue is not English (like yours truly). This edition has NO subtitles, which is a drag. It's been my first purchase on ebay, all went down well, no probs whatsoever. Marco Salati, Venice, ItalyVollständige Rezension lesen
I saw this great film in the 70's and remember the great sound so when I saw supercharger edition I thought the sound was better but there was little difference... pay ten not 25 or something.. but the extras were good, if thats what the su percharger thing is, Susan George looks great for her age in the interview

Peter Fonda roles on after glory in Easy Rider to a similar type character in 'Dirty-Crazy' that seems almost too easy to play. Very calm, cool and laid back, improvising much of the 'lines' along with the other main characters doing the same. Makes for a very 'real' take on each frame of film. An interesting look at "Americana" with a spectacular, unforgetable and all time classic ending to the adventure. The filming was quite an achievement as most was done at very high rates of speed with single takes. Truly a Classic 'car chase' movie that is surely in all fans collection. If you have opportunity to purchase this hard to find movie, jump at the chance.
This has got to be one of the all time best movies ever made! This movie really puts it all out there on the line and the stunts and camera work are superb! Peter Fonda does most of the actual driving in this one and Susan George was a natural for her part. Adam Rourke is the level headed one and did an outstanding job as well. Aside from the spectacular ending, this film leaves you wondering who really are the "Bad Guys" when all things are considered. The only bad part about this movie is that it ended with no hope for a sequal, but then again, maybe that is what adds to the overall "flavor" that has become almost legendary?
