If you're a baby boomer like me who grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, chances are you read comic books back then, and this book is an awesome nostalgic look back at the ads for various products you could send for back then. I love those Bronze age comic books and the ads in them are a big highlight. Many are featured in this book, in full color and in all their mysterious glory. Author Kirk DeMarais takes us on an incredible trip to those days and it all quickly comes back when you see these old ads again: Sea Monkeys (which were actually just tiny brine shrimp), gag gifts like fake vomit, joy buzzers, monster posters, flying ghosts, self improvement and martial arts courses and booklets, x-ray glasses, and tons of neat stuff that you could acquire for a week's allowance or a few dollars more.I sent away for some of this stuff, including the cheap air car which was a total waste of money...but the ads made you think that you'd get something great by sending your money and waiting a few weeks. This book encapsulates a good deal of my childhood...I absolutely love it and highly recommend it~!Vollständige Rezension lesen
