Just misses the mark as the "best" of Budokai
Being a big fan of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3, I felt I should give Infinite World a try. I had heard both pros and cons for this game, but decided to go for it to see if the cons were really that bad. After playing it for a few days, I think this game isn't as bad as some people have said, but it really did mess up on some things that would make it the "best of the Budokai series" as the game states. The fighting gameplay itself is great; even better than Budokai 3 because the stupid rock-paper-scissors Dragon Rush mode is gone. The AI spammed that move, and to me was the only thing keeping Budokai 3 from perfection. I do have two complaints for the gameplay though: 1. You can't end a combo with Ki attacks anymore. For example, the staple P-P-P-P-Kamehameha combo is gone, as are all others ... Being a big fan of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3, I felt I should give Infinite World a try. But in all fairness they didn't happen much in Budokai 3, so while it's a shame it was removed, it doesn't effect the overall gameplay much. Aside from these two points, the gameplay is pretty much the best out of the series. The AI is much more difficult in this game, but it just takes time to get used to them. As for the new Dragon Missions in story mode, they're not terrible, but they're unnecessary. The controls for some are kinda wonky, but overall they're kinda neat the first time around, but you won't want to play them again. As for the rest of the game, this is where things fall flat for the most part. The only stages in the game are from Budokai 3. If this is the best of Budokai, why aren't stages from 1 and 2 included? Music from the past games (and even Burst Limit) are included which is cool. The capsule system is a bit different, but I think it's better now. I don't have the room to explain the whole thing, so I'll just say it'll depend on the person if they like it better, but overall the changes wouldn't be considered terrible. The capsule shop, however, is finally improved. It's no longer random; you can buy whatever you want, as long as you've reached a certain part of the game. My biggest problem with the presentation is that the menus no longer have voice acting. Like Budokai 3, each menu has a character narrating it, but this time it's just text. I'm really dissapointed by this, it was charming to hear the characters talk in each menu. Lastly, cutscenes are back, replacing the rather poor storytelling in Budokai 3, so that's a nice improvement. Overall, Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World is a great addition gameplay-wise, but below average presentation-wise. If you want a better, fast-paced version of Budokai 3 and don't mind some faults on the non-gameplay parts, give this game a rent at least.

Budokai 4... THE BEST
This game is basically DBZ Budokai 4 and was the last DBZ game released for the PlayStation 2. I have to say that, while the game is very difficult at the beginning (Early Dragon Missions are a pain unless you do them on easy), the game as a whole is very good. The mechanics introduced in Budokai 3 are tightened up, and disliked features like Dragon Rush and Hyper Mode are tossed out the window. The new mechanics like Aura Burning, dashing attacks, and combo-less specials make for better fighting. 5 out of 5, the best fighting game for the PS2 since Tekken 5 (IMHO).This game is basically DBZ Budokai 4 and was the last DBZ game released for the PlayStation 2. Great DBZ game.
DBZ Infinite World is good. I like certain gameplay features but it doesn't have the level up system that DBZ Budodai 3 has and it lacks the Dragon Rush attack mode. I still like it regardless. This game has increased in value/price also.
