Nice VCR for playing tapes. I'm converting 50 tapes to digital and this is perfect. No remote but not necessary with the front display buttons. Simple, easy to use unit has performed well so far, as VCR's even when new are notorious for failing after a short period. Basic unit performs on par with Sony units if all you need is playback.

Purchase to convert old VHS family videos and I am loving this VCR so far. My old DVD/VCR combo tried to eat my memories, so I went on the search for something better. So far I am very happy with this VCR and the picture quality is pretty good for old VHS tapes. It is pretty compact and can be easily stored between uses.

First of all, I had owned this model before but it went bad after years of good service. So I looked for one on Ebay. I found one, bought it and lo and behold it works great. I love the fact that the picture is so clear on Playback. It's easy to operate. And when the tape heads need cleaning, the machine will let you know. One of the features I really like is that I can tape Smooth Jazz music from Music Choice on cable tv. I have two wires going from the V4521 to my receiver and allows me to hear the music on my own speakers. If I really like a song or two, I can then hook up my cassette recorder to the receiver and tape the songs and put them onto a CD. Truth be told, I really can't tell when a CD is completed if I got the song from the VCR or from Napster or Limewire. There's really nothing to dislike about the VCR except perhaps that I also got the Panasonic SV-V4520 from Ebay as well and if I hit the power button on the remote, both machines go on. So then I have to get up and turn one of them off. Small price to pay for such good VCR's. They last a lot longer than the RCA's I have. Right now I have 3 broken RCA VCR's sitting on the sidelines until I can find someone to repair them. Hardly anyone does nowadays. One of them is only a few years old and already eating tapes up. As for the overall quality of the two brands, I have to give a big edge to Panasonic.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I bought this VCR to replace an old combination DVD/VCR that simply wore out. My new Panasonic VCR was intended to allow me to occasionally watch old tapes from my meager VHS collection, and it's been excellent to do just that. The remote is super handy; I didn't remember having (or using) one with previous players. I've had no issues with picture or sound; everything I need it to do (play, rewind, fast-forward, etc. -- basic things) is fully functional. No complaints here.
VCR arrived promptly and was packaged securely. Machine has minor problems in playback mode. The sound will sometimes have a "crackle" sound and will not track without snow. Also, machine will completely turn itself off in the middle of a tape. I have not used VCR to tape so cannot address that function. Overall, machine should hopefully give me $52.63 worth of usage before it goes feet up.
