In spite of its impressive wide-angle zoom range of 7-14mm (35mm film camera equivalent; 14-28mm), this lens is surprisingly compact and lightweight for casual on-the-go use. Taking advantage of its wide, 114-degree angle of view, it enables to fit subjects into the frame easily even when shooting indoors where the distance is limited. The world looks extraordinary when viewing through the lens, allowing photos and movies to be recorded with a uniquely rich perspective.This high-performance lens system achieves outstanding compactness by combining 16 lens elements in 12 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses and 4 ED lenses. Image resolution is high from corner-to-corner even at the wide-angle setting. Thanks to its large-diameter glass molded lens elements, it also features F4.0 brightness over the entire zoom range.7 diaphragm blades of circular aperture diaphragm give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. It also features a highly reliable metal mount, and uses multi-coated lens elements that minimize ghosts and flare to further enhance its optical performance. The optimally designed lens hood is enabled to use even under strong sunlight, too.

7-14mm Lumix Lens
I first used this lens when I borrowed one from a friend, and knew I had to get one for myself. Most extreme wide angle lenses tend to 'bend' or 'warp' the outer edges of the widest angle used, and although there is some slight bending it is very minor. I do a lot of video recording and still photo recording inside a museum ship that is being renovated, and the tight quarters require a lens of this nature. Everything has worked out very, very well, and would also like to add that the lens is pretty light, so it won't weigh down your camera bag. If there is one detraction it is that the front element juts out enough to cancel out any UV Filter up front. Olympus or Panasonic? Panasonic
While the comparable Olympus 7-14mm pro lens is absolutely incredible, this lens is almost as good with a lot more going for it. The build quality is not as tough (it is made with high density plastics with metal mounting) the lens weighs about half as much and is almost half as small. The pictures are just as sharp as the olympus (at some apertures it is even sharper) and is almost half the cost depending where you get it. If you need the olympus pro for personal reasons than obviously that is the go to. If you cannot determine which lens to get because the f/2.8 is not absolutely necessary then I would say your money will be better spent here.While the comparable Olympus 7-14mm pro lens is absolutely incredible, this lens is almost as good with a lot more going for it. Terrific small wide zoom
Great solution for Blackmagic Pocket Camera, or any s16mm size sensor, which is a 14-28mm equivalent short zoom on s35mm sensors. Like the Tokina 11-16mm on s35mm sensor cameras, it performs like a vari-prime. Hard to find a lens this wide with good sharpness in a small, lightweight package. Zoom is smooth, focus manageable. Only drawbacks are the steepness of the price and no standard filter solution because of the wide angle and permanent lens shade. I needed to shoot pictures of small rooms for Real Estate Agents.
I leave this lens at F/4 and use the Auto ISO feature on my GX8 and G7. I can make photos with no flash and have edge to edge sharpness, with great colors. I correct for the slight wide angle curvature in Photoshop CS. I bought this used on eBay and am thrilled with the value. It is light weight and solid.
