After having different brand cameras, mixtures of lenses I have returned to Pentax. I thought that this lens would be quite limiting however I’m totally surprised and super happy with the versatility and quality. Even though it’s a little heavy, having a water resistant lens is brilliant !

Good results from this weightly lens, but the SDM failed, and despite the lens also having a screw-drive AF, it took some research to find out how to change the lens software to enable the alternative drive to be permitted.There is a hack method outlined on the Pentaxforms website, but surely it would make more sense for Pentax to allow the choice of AF drive method using the camera's settings menu. This Pentax lens is not alone in having this quirk, and the sooner Pentax address the issue the better.

It's big, it's heavy but it's real quality. Impressed with the image quality so far and the SDM has been faultless so far and quick with the addition of quick manual tweaking without switching out af. Think this will be the lens that usually lives on my K3ii!

pros High quality, easy to work with for a beginner like me. Perfect for family pic together with K5(high iso performance) cons size in general and to big for internal flash.
