I've been waiting for a film like this to come along for years. David Owen (Tim Robbins) shows us how noise can push people to the brink of insanity. This 91 minute, dark sleeper film, directed by Henry Bean (The Believer) makes an indelible impression up us all. We all have to live with noise, and it is seldom viewed upon as anything but beautiful, but we tolerate it. David Owen slowly becomes his own self-proclaimed vigilante and becomes so totally unhinged by the noise outside his window that he declares war on car alarms and burglar alarms mainly. When he takes his quest own as a full-time job, he soon becomes known as "The Rectifier" city-wide and gains the hatred from the then New York's Mayor played by William Hurt. The only impression that I got from the movie was that it was not that he hated all noise, but that he loved to hate some of the most annoying noise, since, in a scene, he carelessly cleaned and stacked a plate one on top of another and caused unnecessary noise when they touch each other. He didn't really mind his wife playing the Cello badly either. I've got to give this film a 5/5 since I relate to this character so well. If YOU LIKE MY REVIEWS, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO LET ME KNOW BY VOTING. THANKS.Vollständige Rezension lesen

I borrowed this DVD from my local library, and loved the film so much that I bought two copies on eBay. This film is absolutely brilliant: fabulous dialogue, amazing comic timing. And since I live in a typically noisy California neighborhood; where car alarms are constantly sent a-wailing by passing jet engines disguised as motorcycles, not to mention boom-cars that rattle my home's windows every few minutes all day and all night . . . well, NOISE is a subject very dear to my heart. My neighbor threw a party last night that forced me to stand with my head over our common fence SCREAMING, "IT'S TOO F**KING LOUD!! DO YOU WANT ME TO BREAK YOUR DAMNED SPEAKER?" since the local police would not intervene and save me from having to act like a crazed fool. To the makers of this film I say, "More power to you!!"Vollständige Rezension lesen
Fantastic, amusing movie about a man who has had enough of the day to day "noise" that we all find annoying. Fed up with leaf blowers, car alarms, etc., he decides to take matters into his own hands. If you've ever had the displeasure of being awoken to a neighbour's car alarm....check it out!
I can't imagine setting through this movie twice. Once was painful enough.
