I really enjoyed the entire thing. The series i sdark and a little cold. so i would not reccomend for children, but anyone else would lov it. The story is good.Kino and her motorcyle hermes go to different towns in each episode, each town is different in major ways. Some are futuristic, and some are old. The animation is beautiful. The Voice acting is top notch, both English and Japanese. The only problem with the series is that it ends so suddenly. They go off riding into the sunset The End. But hey i guess something good always makes you want more. Now for the DVD The managed to fit all 13 episodes onto 3 discs. the box is a nice hard cover that holds three mini boxes. The boxes themself have a lot of art on them. The DVDs look great. They are truly magnificent. And the sound was great to. Dolby 5.1 English. Japanese only 2.0. But i enjoy it in ENglish better anyway. One thing this dvd doesnt have is any extras. I mean No Extras at all. Not even a clean opening and closing. But hey for the price, you get the entire series, a cool box, and something to do. BEWARE!!!There are box sets on Ebay that are almost the same, they say 3 discs English. And all that. But they are fake if they do not look like the box shown here. Remember look for the logo. ADV put their logo on the small right hand bottom corner of both sides of the box. You can get this series for under $30, but dont buy a bootleg, they are bad quality, they are stolen from these sets, they are just wrong and finally they are illegal, do you want to go to jail and bail out for $100,000, for a box set you paid $15 for when you could have bought the real one for $25.Vollständige Rezension lesen
Kino's Journey is a must see series. A young girl, her talking motorad, several aspects of human nature and cruelty cleverly shown in each episode. The joys and sorrows of science, extreme kindness turning to dasterdly betrayal, the depravity of overindulgent society, extreme idea of adulthood and logical sense that supposedly comes with it, and the surreal, peaceful, and warmth of people and a one place transformed to hell on earth only to be saddened by the fact it was accepted. the ingenuity and perserverence of a person who is ridiculed and told never would succeed, these are just some of the scenarios that were beautifully written and exceptionally put together and seen through the eyes of kino. the episodes are sporadic never really fully blending together but you soon forget that after two or three and just take the series as it should be as a beautifully tragic take on humanity. there is some back history to kino how her name was gotten and her excellent marksmanship abilities, but just enough to please and not leave alot of questions. an absolute must see absolutely beautiful in script, layout, and character development in every episode. but this is just my opinion.peaceVollständige Rezension lesen
This is a very psychological or sociological anime. Kino travels to different countries with the talking motorbike Hermes. Each country has something drastically "wrong" with it. Kino helps some countries overcome their problems, but strives to never interfere. Interfering shouldn't be too much of a problem seeing as she only stays in each country for a day. Viewers get to learn about themselves and the world by seeing the failings of another. Perhaps the greatest lesson comes from the only country that comes to understand their shortcomings . . . . A very subtle, "quiet" anime that is simply beautiful. Recommended to anyone wanting to watch quality anime. It's a refreshing change from so many wild, crazy, loud, obnoxious, etc. anime.
This Series deserves a 10 out of 10, hands down. The art, music, and plot all go together in one of the smoothest flowing anime's that I have ever seen in my life. The storyline is amazing and thought provoking. I just don't know what to write which would give this series the credit where credit is due. If you have the chance to get this series, grab it as if your life would suddenly end otherwise. It's that good.
Great series a must have for any collector
