sounds very nice overall but needed the reverb mod and the vibro ticking mod to resolve the two issues these early one's have. Mines a 94 so the guy b4 me I guess didn't have good ears, or something. Anyway great clean sounds and if you use the guitar volume you can get dirty and have it break up or clean up with a 1/4 turn up or down. The only negative is fender should use top quality parts on EVERYTHING in this amp don't skimp..geez! I mean 3699.00 retail? And the bean counters try to save 2 dollars here and .50 cents there, get real. charge another 100.00 already! Just make the amp top notch and road reliable. otherwise go cheap everywhere and sell it for 1299.00. fender, you guys kill me sometimes.
I have a 1994 Vibro King, which had only ever been used in a studio before I bought it. It came with the 2x12 matching extension cab, and the first time I played it in public, I was really taken by the crisp and clear sound of it. There were a lot of other guitarists there, and they all commented on it's clarity and rich clean sound. The reverb and tremelo would be hard to beat anywhere by any amp maker. There's no point in getting too technical about this amp....the quality speaks for itself. It is a solidly built, well put together amp which will not fail to please....if it's good enough for Pete Townshend, then it's good enough for me !!
