The intended audience for the Game boy advance was for the most part kids and young adults. Despite this, it still had its share of first person shooters. In the vein of Doom and Wolfenstein 3-D is Dark Arena. It's pretty darn fun. Only downside, which of course was to be expected when this game first came out is that there is no multiplayer. As fun and as detailed as it is though, it's Single player campaign should keep you entertained for hours on end. I highly recommend it, it's most certainly a forgotten classic if you're a fan of the genre.
My kids both have Nintendo DS's so I decided to buy Doom and Doom II for the GBA/DS for posterity as I am a big Doom fan. In the process I picked up Dark Arena and it is a surprisingly good game for the GBA/DS. Game play is very much like Doom. Controls work reasonably well. Graphics are very good for a GBA game. I highly recommend this game and it is usually available at a good price.
