I always wanted a Canon F1. I bought a Canon EF in 1977 because I couldn't afford the F1. The EF was £230 but the F1 was nearer £400! The F1 is a basic manual camera, but the build quality is superb. Not surprising it was the number one choice for professionals. It is very easy to use, bit of course the art is seeing the picture and composing it. If you can do that bit, the F1 does the rest.
Used cameras which were produced many years ago such as Canon F-1, are necessary to fix or to overhaul for use. Concerning this product,"MOLTPLANE" for light-shield was deteriorated and the accuracy of shutter-speed was incorrect. However, I love Canon F-1 and I would like to take photos after fixing of Canon F-1. Fortunately, in Japan there are several fix it shops. Regards, Shojin 2012
I bought this because I collect cameras, and I regard it as a classic of its time. What appeals to me about cameras of this age is their solid build, mechanical operation and ease of use. This camera is in "as new" condition, and I think I was lucky to find it because it was a "pro" camera, and usually a lot worse for wear. It was not cheap, but worth paying for one so good. I have mostly Nikons, but I made an exception because the F1 is a beautiful camera.
