Since this is a modern retelling of BEAUTY & THE BEAST, don't expect any surprising plot twists; however, like all good romances, you will enjoy the story even though it's obvious who winds up falling in love. Unlike most versions, the Beast (Alex Pettyfer) doesn't resemble an animal and he isn't hairy. In fact, a witch's curse makes him lose all his hair, and his skin becomes a mosaic of scars, tattoos, and piercings. His new look, in contemporary New York City, brilliantly underscores the film's message that beauty and ugliness are not absolutes, but perceptions. How you perceive yourself, and how others perceive you, will determine whether you are beautiful or ugly --- both inside AND outside. In fact, some viewers may find the hero's edgy tattooes and piercings MORE attractive than his former bland, conventional pretty-boy features. Vanessa Hudgens gives a surprisingly poignant performance as the hero's love interest. As for Mary-Kate Olsen, most of her acting roles past age ten have been disappointing. But as Kendra, the witch in BEASTLY, she's positively chilling. Who would have believed Michelle from FULL HOUSE could be so convincingly creepy? Despite the PG-13 rating, there is no sex or nudity. The film has a worthy moral and is unlikely to corrupt or traumatize anyone age 8 or older, unless you are very squeamish about seeing facial piercings and tattoos.Vollständige Rezension lesen
I like this movie! It's a modern day twist of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. A decent version for sure! I found that I liked the "BEAST" better than when he was normal!lol

This book wasn’t an adult read because it was an easy read and didn’t get too “adult” but it still warmed my heart. Such a sweet story. I wanted Adrian to be real. Loved the main characters.

Beastly is an edgy teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) has it all - looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity - and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating "aggressively unattractive" classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), inviting her to the school's extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion. She retaliates by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he despises. Enraged by his horrible and unrecognizable appearance he confronts Kendra and learns that the only solution to the curse is to find someone that will love him as he is - a task he considers impossible. Repulsed by his appearance, Kyle's callous father (Peter Krause) banishes him to Brooklyn with a sympathetic housekeeper (LisaGay Hamilton) and blind tutor (Neil Patrick Harris). As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse and get his old life back, he chances upon a drug addict in the act of killing a threatening dealer. Seizing the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) if she will consent to live in Kyle's Brooklyn home. Thus begins Kyle's journey to discover true love in this hyper-modern retelling of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" story.Vollständige Rezension lesen
