Excellently written book by authority on Luftwaffe subject Bernd Barbas Forgotten Ace - is bilingual ( German/ English ) study of second highest scoring WW II ace Gerd Barkhorn - German Luftwaffe triple centurion. Well illustrated with aircraft profiles and detailed maps and tons of color photos - its a story of Luftwaffe top gun - from his first steps in 1940 as a young pilot till last days of III Reich in spring 1945.( plus one chapter on his involvement with Post War Luftwaffe flying F86 and F104 ). Barbas book is well researched, and is in English and German language. Author is well known researcher on the subject of Luftwaffe and especially JG 52 and has balanced opinions. His monumental JG52 history is extremely detailed but unfortunately never been translated in to English.( So this book is a must ) I highly recommend this book not only to Luftwaffe fans but to all WW II and aeroplane aficionados. It will open your eyes on air war on Estern front in WW II and will show how pilots like Barkhorn, Hartman were able to down 300 plus enemy planes.Vollständige Rezension lesen
