My Athlon XP1600+ PC was struggling a bit with video capture and editing, but my motherboard was capable of supporting a faster chip. After careful examination of the motherboard manual and the availability of compatible chips on ebay, I chose a second-hand 2800+ variant from the same family of processors as being the most cost-effective upgrade. I needed faster RAM too, to accommodate the faster FSB speed, also found on ebay and imported from the USA for a total cost of half the equivalent from UK sources. The processor chip had been retrieved from another system, and needed careful cleaning to clear the heatsink of old and dry thermally conducting gunk before adding some fresh. The pins were shipped embedded in expanded polystyrene, which I thought was not good electrostatic protection, but it worked as new. So now I have a machine with twice the speed, all for under £50!Vollständige Rezension lesen
It was packed in a jewelry type box. I bought it as it was all we could find to upgrade my older computer.
A good all round processor, superceded by multi core versions but for a machine used purely for basic net surfing and general use a very cost effective option when building a system.
A good lil processor - you can't beat amd - fast realiable and some of the best processors out there!
I bought this 2nd hand processor to replace a slower 7 year old one in my pc along with a 1gig 520gt grafix card and now my pc is flying, almost as fast as my 1 year old dual core 3 gig TOSHIBA laptop,i can run games that would not run before and run games in the highest resolution. For around £48 i have now speeded up my old pc to my specs,i could have put a 4000 processor in but they were around £30 which was an extra £24 so it was not worth the extra money.
