Bought it after K3-SV
K5-S is a definitive step-up from K3-SV.
It's 250 g (9 ounces) lighter, which you definitely feel on a naked bike, has plusher insides and combined with better aerodynamics it's less noisy (it's not silent, but noise is not as loud).
For a 30 % higher price you get a 30 % better helmet.

Bought it as an extended storage for my laptop
Works like a charm. Very good transfer speeds.
Plastic case vibrates a bit with high frequency during continuous usage. I’ve placed a small weight on top and it reduces the noise by 90 %, so now it’s completely silent (other than an intermittent tick or two from aligning the heads, which is not very annoying and completely normal).
Got a 2 TB version, partitioned it so it’s also used as a TimeMachine storage, and this didn’t impact it’s performance at all.
