A Survivor
While the book is for a young reader, it is written and illustrated well enough to give anyone, of any age, a good understanding of the bright indigenous girl who had a difficult young life which she was able to survive, and through her wits was able to push forward to continue to survive in a situation where the aggressors were on a mission to conquer at any cost. A valuable historic book of the events that created a new world in the early 1500s.

From Bon Vivant to Cat Food
2011 PBS Masterpiece Theater is how I first saw this 4-part series that takes you from an Oxford student bon-vivant to an old man eating cat food. Excellent book. Excellently made into a movie/series. From the 1920s to the 1950s with all the changes in the world during that period. I knew I had to own the DVD to watch it again. It hits a personal nerve during mid-life and the acceptance of life as-is.
