All the stuff I wish I had learned as a kid
I liked this book for the great insight into times long gone. Written in 1882 by men recalling the rewarding times of their childhood experiences, it passes on, with practical, precise and in-depth instruction, useful skills and entertaining games, that are far better designed to develop the body-mind coordination of a young human than sitting on a couch all day learning to excel at video games and social media. And as an added benefit, having this book will ensure that when the lights go out and zombies eat your friends, there's no need for you to go hungry or get board.

to learn to sail? Instructions are in there
to catch food or to get a wild pet? just follow the easy instructions for setting traps, making a fishing pole, an elastic gun, a boomerang, a bow n arrow, how to train hunting animals, etc
to drink water? how to harvest fresh water in the wild
to raise a wild bird nestling? Has instructions for number of species
to entertain a crowd? Explains lots of simple party tricks and there's even an original short play in there with complete stage directions and cut-out designs for shadow puppets.
Also in there- lots of natural art projects, and how to make all sorts of interesting physics-based toys- like a camera obscura, flying spinning things and whirligigs that used to (and still will) interest a young person for hours- provided i suppose they don't have access to a television or an ipad.
And lots of other stuff- all that can be made from easy to find cheap stuff. It's a great book, although with the caveat that some of the things are (understandably) outdated, such as assuming everyone has access to barrel staves from any of the many old unused wooden barrels just lying around their yard- also the bit about using a whip to train a dog (no doubt it works- but not recommended- after all it's a mentality from two guys who grew up when people still owned slaves, and also never heard of "The dog whisperer"). It also assumes that kids can handle any sort of tool including guns and knives. Although some enlightened folks might view that last one as a plus, I would recommend at least supervising those activities till they can.
All in all though a classic, still relevant, great how-to book- if for nothing else- just as an example of a how to make a great how-to book.

this is a great plant to have- I have grown it several times to a huge size with tons of fruit- but I'm disappointed with this purchase since these seeds did not germinate

not stone- please be more accurate in your descriptions
This is not made of stone. It is a peice of thick glass with a black rubber backing. It is worth the amount of glass in a coke bottle, not the $11 that I paid for it.
It's made with a textured surface and so does work as a scratch testing tool, and I have been using it, but it is not the of the quality that the description leads one to believe.
