Caution! Hidden words on the hood!
If you are looking for a clean visual experience this is not your solution. The hood is good quality and fits well but it says 39mm right on the barrel. This is not shown in the sample photos and not mentioned in the description. Displeased with that aspect but otherwise fine.

Necessary/unnecessary.
Best quality construction. Same glass as an M lens. Necessary for accurate framing on an M body. Pro Tip: this same view can be approximated by the full use of your camera’s built in viewfinder window, outside of the frame lines.
