First best hackable Android phone
A bit bulky and very geeky looking device. The CPU is moderate at 528 MHz it is not cut out for serious gaming (sorry, no Angry Birds), but it has enough power for your daily browsing, tweeting, facebooking, youtubeing or emailing. The 192 MByte of RAM is not much and the storage space for installed applications is very limited. The official Android 1.6 update is recommended, and it is possible to install Froyo (this also cures the low storage space as app2SD works on Froyo). The HTC Dream is dated, but might be a good choice if you want a cheap Android handset with a full qwerty keyboard and a decent capacitive screen (320x480 HVGA resolution).
