Worth every penny - get the 8200i with the infrared
Really happy with this device - it's worth going for the more expensive model with the infrared scanning as it works wonders with cleaning things up. I had heard lots of complaints about the bundled software Silverlight but it is actually really good. I can only imagine the people who had problems were not very experienced with similar software. If you have used Photoshop or anything similar and have at least a basic understanding of scanning you should have no problem at all. You can adjust all manor of things in Silverlight to get the most our of your scans. There are a couple of small issues I had setting up on Windows 10. Firstly it would not launch the exe file from the DVD but this was the fault of Windows not the software - I got a workaround for this common problem online in 10 minutes. Second thing is to download the latest drivers and software online. My scans were not working fully until I had done this. Since then it has been clear sailing and a joy to use. 5 stars. I enclose some examples of scans from slides and negatives (the black and white pics don't work with the auto clean so that has to be done manually if you wish to do that)
