A dark magical girl thriller
Bare bones release with no real extras but an absolute gem of an anime.
We follow the story of 14 year old Madoka and her friend Sayaka as they are offered contracts by the cute alien Kyuubey to gain magical powers to fight dark entities known as witches but a mysterious magical girl called Homura is hell bent on stopping Madoka from becoming a magical girl.
The anime is cutesy and very light for the first few episodes but soon begins a descent into a dark psychological thriller with a truly cosmic ending.
