NEW KALT Snap-in Camera Lens Pinch Cap 72mm Black Plastic Snap-on w Finger Grip
    08. Jul 2016
    Better than name brand
This is not my first Kalt lens cap, and when my Nikon cap managed to find its way off of a 70' tall bardge into the Mississippi, I knew I would buy this over the name brand. I think that these are built of a tougher plastic and have stronger springs. I use this on a 35mm lens hood.

Hoya HMC 52mm Yellow Y52 Multi-Coated Filter Authorized USA Dealer A-52Y52-GB

    Filters in a modern age
Filter use (aside from UV and prtective filters) have for the most part fallen to the wayside. No one really uses these colored filters as their use was for correcting tones in black and white photography. I still like to shoot the old cameras, and am a sucker for black and white film - something that benifits from filter use. If you are shooting digitally there is no need for these colored filters as you can do all of that in camera without the one stop loss of light that this Y52 filter causes. Out of all the colored filters, this one is my favorite, it is stronger than the Y48 filter (you need to conpensate for one stop as opposed to 2/3 stops for the y48), so skys are darkened more, giving better cloud contrast. I find the results with skin tones to be very flatering, and overall it is just a perfect filter to keep on your camera at all times. I shoot with a lens hood but I still am very appricative of the HMC coating. I own several Y52 filters and will pick up a few more in the future.
Leica M6 Chrome 0.72 35mm Rangefinder Film Camera Body Only

    Great Shooter
The M6 is a GREAT camera. I was looking at this and the M4 (which I guess is a little better built), but in the end went with the newer camera with the light meter. So I come from a Nikon background, I have three F2's (best manual SLR ever made) and a FM3a that I use for flash as it has TTL and a sync speed of 1/250. But I have to tell you, my first 15 rolls with this camera has been amazing. I work as a photojournalist and a documentary photographer, and this camera is more people friendly than my F2 with a 35mm lens - my most used focal length. I am able to get closer without people noticing, and then once they see me, I can disarm them with a smile and this beautiful camera. I am used to the zone system with my Nikons, but I find that I am using it even more with the Leica. I preset the exposure (usually around f/5.6) set the focus, and then walk towards my subject, stopping and raising my camera when in focus range. So I am often working between 5-20 feet of my subjects. The small size of this camera is also nice. So the camera is my most expensive film camera - I also shoot a NIkon D750 for Newspaper work - but it is totaly worth it. If you are on a budget get a nikon and their 35mm 1.4 Ai/AIS for about $550. But if you can afford this, it really is so worth it. I use it with a Zeiss 35mm f/2, a Voigtlander 21mm f/4, and a Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5. All GREAT and small lenses that let me get close to my subject without alarming them. Be warned, however, you might get called "Peter Parker" when you are photographing strangers with this camera. It has happened to me twice in the past two months.
