Intensity that travels light

Robert Jospe and his crew take off like a locomotive with jet engines. It lifts you up. It swings you around. It does not sit still. It is an intense ride that travels light. No droning unaccented repetitive riffs to this stuff. The music races to the top of the beat, hangs there like Michael Jordan magically (and majestically) before the basket of your mind, and then dunks. You can tell these guys are enjoying every nuance of what they deliver. It's jazz with an edge, on the edge, threatening at moments to go over the edge. It swings and swoops and surprises. I hear shades of samba, funk, soul, and just plain old fashioned uptown smokey late night ... Agua de Beber (hypnotizing), Cape Verdean Blues (intoxicating), Infant Eyes (layered) ... Superb! This is a very exciting and nutritious musical meal worth many servings. I recommend indulging.

Delicious!

Fine reissue of a fine LP and CD ... a little pricey, but well worth it ... a clean well-engineered classic from a talented artist of an incredible era! The 20th century was absolutely busting with creativity in music from all genres, not just jazz. Bach and Beethoven and Mozart might well have been proud to have had the option of changing their temporal location to the 20th century. Viva la musica!

Superb classic performances by the greatest artists ... The creators and performers of jazz have forged an America of such uniqueness and depth that could never have existed without them. These performances (and performers) do provide entertainment at its root human and profound. Jazz is the music of Freedom! God less all who have given it to us all.
