Answered my questions
A most important subject and a book which I come back to, when I realise I've fallen into the temptation to hold a grudge - with the resultant disastrous effect on my peace of mind. The author writes from his own experience of difficulty forgiving those who hurt him/his loved ones. He doesn't say you have to pretend you weren't hurt, it didn't matter, make excuses for their sin, let criminals go unprosecuted, stay best friends with them. He shows the Godly, biblical way. Highly recommended.

Gentle, sensitively-told story.
this is a lovely story which gently touches on the dark times of Grandma's experience in a Nazi concentration camp, without any actual scary descriptions (mainly talking about being hungry). It shows an extended family holding a small act of remembrance as part of their Hanukkah gathering. It is touching but not too emotional. It is told from the point of view of one of the daughters, aged about 10 so I would say it is suitable for that sort of age, and may raise more questions (in the story, younger children ask questions and they are carefully answered). The appearance of the book is nostalgic, with faded tones for the family gathering and sepia for the concentration camp memories. The illustrations of the family around the meal table are lovely, especially the one of Grandma and her sister as they remember how they managed secretly to light a candle to commemorate Hanukkah even in the camp. This is about family love and tradition not mentioning religion or any details of the Hanukkah festival.
