tiny black box hold the old SSD
this enclosure solves two problems: the first is when you get a newer bigger SSD for your aging MacBook Air. after you install the new, pop the old into the this case, boot, the copy the old to the new in one pass instead of two. two passes? that would be coping the old SSD to a hard drive. then copy the hard drive to the new SSD. after you have transferred the data you can format the old SSD and use it for storing what ever you need stored. this solves the problem of how to keep using the old SSD.

overkill for what I used it for
I used this Carabiner to fix a messenger bag binding a strap to the bag replacing the hardware that wore out. this one will never wear out in this role. not only is it a better solution it was half the cost of a replacement bag strap. win win.

required tool to open your iMac.
do NOT try to open an iMac 2015 or newer without this tool. you will break the glass if you use a knife, small screw drivers, or pry tool. this round thin rotating blade is exactly what you need to break the existing seal.
