Mirage Rock shades it but not by much.
Infinite Arms has a higher rating globally than Mirage Rock, but to my mind Mirage Rock is the best thing Band of Horses have done. Their sound is so unique and quality. Infinite Arms is great; just not as great as Mirage Rock.

Three excellent compositions
I acquired it for the second violin concerto, but I listen to the Elegy and Of Thee I Sing just as much. Leshnoff is comfortable with people enjoying listening to his music and doesn't insist on being 'challenging' all the time.

Clement's craft revisited
Franz Clement has had his reputation both enhanced and restricted by his friendship with Beethoven. Beethoven wrote his single solo violin concerto for Clement, and it is a beautiful masterpiece, which remade the rules of a violin concerto in orchestration and power. That may be why it took some forty years to become popular - only after being played in public by the young master, Joseph Joachim. So we have Clement to thank for persuading Beethoven to write that concerto. Contrastingly, the solo violin concertos of Clement himself have been rather overlooked. Mirijam Contzen has now recorded his concertos 1 and 2 in a recording program titled "Beethoven's World". (Poor Clement cannot escape). But they stand on their own. They have quality orchestration and strong melodies, and Ms Contzen has brought them to rebirth.
