As Zappa said, Carvin Rocks
When you get the X1 EQ'd to taste, the Lead channel has a great crunch, and the gain stage adds a singing lead tone. The clean channel is a bit thin for my tastes, but some may love that.
Overall the Legacy Drive has a better tone, but the X1 has more tonal options due to the graphic EQ. Also, the 1 watt speaker output going into a Vintage30 speaker cab is great for a practice/bedroom level amp.
I've also just plugged into the headphone jack to jam in my own little world late at night, and been lost in the sound. The tone through a quality set of headphones is solid.

That Marshall Sound, if you know how to work it
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich The TSL100, like most all tube Marshall amps, respond wonderfully pick pressure, and how forcefully you strike (and even grip) the strings. Learning to coax those sounds out of it is an art, and part of the musicianship that the greats, like Beck and Satch, do so well.
This amp responds well to tube changes. First, I had to bias the power tubes up to the recommended 90mV (they were at 68). Then I tried many different preamp tubes and it responded drastically different to them. NOS Mullards tamed it, too much. NOS Ei sound wonderful, but the NOS RFT's growled and rocked.
I've heard some negative comments about this amp, and it's not like some plug and play solid state job, or even some of the master volume amps that don't tweak well. You can tweak this amp to your hearts content and get chiming cleans, blues with a little grit, hard rock and straight up metal out of it.
