Not competition strong, but nothing to sneeze at; the P3L-S10 will impress!
I have used Rockford Fosgate almost exclusively over the last 15 years when I needed a bass solution to round out my mobile audio experience, and have never been disappointed. I wasn't sure if this shallow series sub could deliver the same powerful report that I was used to hearing from its conventional predecessors; the truth of the matter is, this particular product outperforms anything else I have ever owned. Currently under-powered by a RF P200-2, I get sound that is less "muddy" than a typical 12-inch subwoofer; the 10-inch just fills in that missing element of all your music, regardless of the genre. I mounted the amp directly to the back of the truck-style enclosure. This actually improves the stability of the enclosure, counter-weighting the subwoofer itself, which tends to make the extremely shallow box front-heavy, while at the same time keeping the overall depth dimension of the system at less than 10 inches. I also added the P3S10G subwoofer grille, which directly replaces the beauty-ring that comes with the P3L-S10 pre-loaded subwoofer box; I no longer worry about random cargo piercing and ruining the best investment I have ever made for my Nissan Xterra. While a larger, more powerful subwoofer may offer more BOOM, this 10-inch is more than adequate to fill my mid-sized SUV with the low-end that my stock door speakers just cannot deliver on their own.
